Snow Storm!

Our first night with Roxy was success. She woke us up once to take her out for a potty break but otherwise slept soundly.

Imagine our surprise when we woke up in the morning to almost 50 cm of snow! At first Roxy didn't know what to think of it, I mean she knew what snow was, but had never experienced it in such quantity before!

Here was the view from our front door

Roxy getting a cookie for doing her business outside like a big girl!

She enjoyed sniffing around for interesting scents

And loved nothing more than climbing up the snowbanks to see what was on the other side!

Adopting Roxy

It had been 24 whole hours since I had phoned and emailed about Roxy. Her sweet little face consumed my thoughts at work and home so needless to say I was beyond thrilled when I received a call from Nadine at BARK who asked me more questions about our home and lifestyle.

After our chat Nadine asked "Would you like to meet her tonight?" I said "YES!"

Oh ya, but there was one thing I had forgot to do......TELL MY HUSBAND. So I quickly sent him an email with a link to her advertisement on BARK's website - I kept it simple and asked "What do you think?"

He sent me two words back.......... "LOVE HER"

I replied "Good! We're meeting her tonight at 8!"

And there you have it. That is how we saw Roxy on a Monday, met her on Tuesday, fell in love and brought her home that same evening! She was a little unsure of her new surroundings but quickly settled in ~ Here are a few photos of her first night with us in her forever home:

It was official! March 4, 2008 Roxy joined our family. THANK YOU BARK FOR CHOOSING US TO BE HER PARENTS!

Dog Available for Adoption!

I will never forget the day that my co-worker Sarah introduced me to BARK's website (a local, foster-based rescue here in Ottawa) since she knew that me and my husband had been talking about adopting our first furry addition. I enthusiastically clicked on the "How Much is that Doggie in the Window" link to view their adoptable pets and stumbled upon the ad shown below. I'm sure you'll see why it was love at first sight. We had never seen anything like her before!

 Roxy - Available

This is Roxy a 6 month old adorable something! We were told
she is a Daschund mix, she does have a long body and very
short legs but it ends there. Whatever she is Roxy is a sweet, playful
puppy who gets along with other dogs and cats. She has had her
first shot and has been dewormed. BARK will be spaying her shortly.
